Toho Seika has been making snacks in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture since the 1970s, with a clear and committed focus on one format: the potato fry. Not a crisp, not a puff β a thin, ridged potato stick with a crunch that sits somewhere between the two, and a surface area engineered to hold as much seasoning as physically possible. The three flavours they're best known for cover the full range of Japanese snack sensibility: Fried Chicken, with its aromatic garlic and ginger depth; Karubi-Yaki, modelled on the sweet, smoky richness of Korean-style grilled beef ribs; and Jaga Shio Butter, which does exactly what it promises and does it very well. Understated packaging, overdelivering on flavour.
